Agenda: Addressing the issues of intersectionality within the gender

To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms. To help Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society. To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

UN Women is the global champion for gender equality, working to develop and uphold standards and create an environment in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential. UN Women are trusted partners for advocates and decision-makers from all walks of life, and a leader in the effort to achieve gender equality. UN Women has the sole responsibility to coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

Aanya Wig

Chairperson

Aanya is currently pursuing History Hons in Lady Shri Ram College for Women and working as a Journalist with The Quint. She is the founder of the social entrepreneurship project, Aghaaz, and a founding member of the not-for-profit organisation, Pratisandhi. She has been an active MUNner for more than 6 years now and has been a part of over 30 MUNs.

She is highly inclined towards committees related to Human Rights and Environment. She loves singing and spends a lot of her time procrastinating (like all of us) rather than actually working. She is working towards empowering people and getting empowered.
